The Frenchman spotted at Langkawi International Airport (LIA) yesterday wearing a pink wristband has been ordered to undergo his quarantine period at the Ayer Hangat Health Clinic in Langkawi.

This latest update comes after news outlets yesterday reported that the man was allowed to undergo quarantine at his home.

According to Langkawi district police chief Supt Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim, the Health Ministry has ordered the man to undergo quarantine at the health clinic instead of at his rented house at Pantai Chenang.

Yesterday, Mohd Iqbal said his team discovered that the 64-year-old man had been screened for Covid-19 by Health Ministry staff at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) when he arrived there at 8.25am on 20 August.

The results of the investigation revealed that the man, who is working from home in Langkawi, boarded a Qatar Airways plane from Paris to Doha, Qatar and then reboarded the plane to KLIA yesterday.

The results of the test were negative, and the man then continued his journey to LIA and arrived around 3.30pm. Following that, he was then sent to the clinic for his mandatory 14-day quarantine.

He’ll then have to visit the Kedah Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC) on 1 September for his second Covid-19 swab test.
