The government is looking at the proposal to monitor any content uploaded on social media sites that are contrary to Islamic teachings, especially involving the views from liberals and apostates.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri, said his Ministry is always ready cooperate with the Ministry of Unity and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) on the matter.

The government, according to Dzulkifli, is looking at the issue as liberals and apostates are becoming increasingly vocal in issuing opinions against Islam on social media sites.

Zulkifli said, therefore, his Ministry is also ready to hold a dialogue session to explain all the confusion about the teachings of Islam to the community.

God willing, we will submit answers related to any confusion about Islam so that we can give enlightenment and explanation to the community. We are ready to dialogue and discuss harmoniously so that each understands and respects each other.
