The Health Ministry has confirmed that the PUI Sivagangga Cluster in Kedah and Kurau Cluster in Perak and Penang have grown due to Hari Raya Aidiladha visits at the end of July.

The declaration was made today following the addition of three new cases in the Kurau Cluster today, 10 August. All the positive cases in this cluster were family members of the first patient (Case 9,050) including their brother-in-law, sibling and two-year-old nephew.

According to the Health Ministry, all three family members were infected following a Hari Raya Aidiladha family visit on 30 July. The cluster has also spread to Penang.

At the Covid-19 briefing today, Health Director-General Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah stated that this cluster, along with Sivagangga Cluster began growing rapidly following the Hari Raya Aidiladha festive season, making it a major source of the Covid-19 infection.

Most of the Covid-19 infections in these two clusters involve family members, elderly and young children. Although visiting activities were allowed, preventative measures such as wearing a face mask is very important.
