The Perak Health Department (JKN) is tracing and screening people who had close contact with an infected nurse from a government clinic in Ipoh.

The nurse was tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday, August 8 and has been admitted to the hospital for treatment.

Checks on the nurse’s family found that they were negative for the virus and authorities are investigating the source of the infection.

Reportedly a man had taken to social media to complain about how the nurse was still on duty despite being sick.

Supposedly the man was unsatisfied by the fact that his family had to undergo Covid-19 screenings after having contact with the nurse in question.

Perak State Health Director Datuk Dr. Ding Lay Ming did confirm that the nurse had been sick and was showing influenza like symptoms, but was not identified as a Covid-19 patient under investigation (PUI).

Dr. Ding explained that the nurse had no prior contact history with positive Covid-19 cases and had followed standard operating procedures (SOP) while on duty.

As of date, Perak has recorder over 260 positive cases of Covid-19 including 6 deaths.
