Malaysia is working on improving internet connectivity in the suburbs and rural areas.
Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah explained that the government had put into effect the nationwide Suburban Broadband (SUBB) and Rural Broadband (RBB) program to provide high-speed broadband service in required areas.
The minister said that there are about 639,000 connections already available, with over 34,000 connections on-the-way bringing fixed broadband connectivity to concerned areas like in Sabah and Sarawak.
The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) would also be improving internet coverage and quality in the suburbs and rural areas of the country.
Recently, it was reported that less than 20% of the country is cut off from having any internet access.
