As Malaysia holds back the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Health Ministry (MOH) reminds the rakyat to protect the country’s most at-risk individuals from the deadly plague.
With a PSA on its social media channels, MOH calls to attention the individual groups that are most susceptible to the coronavirus being; the elderly, pregnant mothers, people with chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, cardiac heart problems, and asthma, as well as individuals with immunodeficiency such as cancer patients and people with HIV and AIDS.
These are the four groups of people, we as healthy, able-bodied Malaysians must work to protect from the viral plague by maintaining Covid-19 guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOP).
MOH advocates a shared responsibility for Malaysians to maintain social distancing by isolating themselves and avoiding public spaces as much as possible as well as preserving the 1 meter new normal “safe space” we’re supposed to have with one another at all times.
Besides the usual hygiene practices, MOH also reminds Malaysians to basically not turn one’s isolation into a dull affair by emphasizing the need to keep up with an active, fulfilling lifestyle as well as a healthy, well balanced diet.
The public is also reminded of the country’s new mandatory mask rule for public spaces, beginning August 1, 2020.
As of writing, Malaysia records a total of 8,840 cases of Covid-19 with 143 of them still active.
