MOE: Parents Can Keep Students At Home If Worried About Covid-19 Risk

The Education Ministry (MOE) says that parents can choose to keep their children at home, instead of returning to schools if they’re worried about Covid-19.
In a livestream on the ministry’s EduWebTV YouTube channel, MOE deputy director-general (school operation sector) Adzman Talib said that the option is available to parents concerned about their children’s health and safety when asked about students with health complications.
Should parents decide against sending their children back to school, all they need to do is notify the school via an official letter.
Adzman also mentioned that students with health complications such as asthma, on dialysis, with compromised immunity or with heart and lung problems, must keep their masks on at all times when in school.
In the nearly two hour long video, Adzman states that parents are urged to send their children to school themselves instead of using public vehicles.
If this is not possible, they must comply with the health standard operating procedures (SOP) implemented by the Transportation Ministry which include mandatory face masks and ensuring their child does not have any symptoms before boarding school buses or vans.

On 1st July, Education Minister Dr Mohd Radzi Jidin announced that schools nationwide will reopen in two phases – on 15th and 22nd July.
Students in Form 5 and Form 6 who are taking examinations returned to school on 24th June.
