A man in India was willing to spend around US$40,000 (RM171,500) on a special face mask to protect him from Covid-19.

It was reported that the 60-gram gold mask took about eight days to produce and the man who splashed the cash on the all-gold mask, Shankar Kurhada, 49, said that he’s a huge fan of the precious metal.

He said that he likes to wear gold jewellery, including bracelets and chains weighing up to one kilogram regularly.

Although the mask is ludicrously expensive, Kurhada said that the gold mask doesn’t give him any extra protection from the coronavirus.

It was a thin face mask with small pores that allowed me to breathe. I wasn’t sure if it would protect me from the Covid-19 infection, but I did take other precautions.
