So what happens when a graduate from your university becomes widely recognized as a national hero? You hit ’em up with an award!

Our esteemed Health Director-General Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah, who is known as one of Malaysia’s key figures in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, was granted the 2019 Most Notable Alumni award by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia’s (UKM) Faculty of Medicine for its inaugural Sanjungan Kencana Award 2020

The award is essentially the faculty’s way of honouring the achievements of its academics, staff and alumni for their excellence and contribution in the field of medicine.

Graduating with a Master’s degree in Surgery and a Doctorate of Medicine from UKM, Dr. Noor Hisham expressed his gratitude to be honored with such recognition from his former alma mater.

Ever one to share the credit, in a posting made on Facebook, the DG attributes the accreditation and his personal successes to the men and women in the healthcare service for their hard work, dedication, and integrity in the medical field.

This year, in embracing the new normal, the Sanjungan Kencana Award show was hosted live via video conference on Zoom and is also available for viewing on YouTube.

As part of the award, Dr. Noor Hisham also received a cash prize of RM5,000, a neat trophy as well as an award certificate from UKM.
