As domestic travel restrictions and interstate travel ban are lifted in the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) period from 10th June, AirAsia unveils a RM399 Unlimited Pass for domestic travel.

The AirAsia Unlimited Pass Cuti-Cuti Malaysia allows customers to redeem unlimited flights across 16 destinations within Malaysia from 25 June 2020 until 31 March 2021.

In a statement, AirAsia Malaysia CEO Riad Asmat said that this move is part of the low-cost carrier’s efforts to stimulate and revitalise Malaysia’s domestic tourism.

We are all in this together. Reviving the travel and tourism industry will need to be a collective effort, and we look forward to working together with all tourism stakeholders from hoteliers to travel agents to achieve this objective. By travelling domestically, we can all support the local communities and contribute to rebuilding our economy.

Riad Asmat, CEO of AirAsia Malaysia.

Destinations covered by this pass include Alor Setar, Langkawi, Penang, Ipoh, Johor Bahru, Kuala Lumpur, Kota Bharu, Kuala Terengganu in Peninsular Malaysia. East Malaysia destinations include Kuching, Miri, Bintulu, Sibu, Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan, Tawau and Labuan.

Offered to all Malaysia-based AirAsia BIG members, this domestic travel pass has a limited purchasing window from 10am on 11th June until 23.59pm on 13th June.

It will be available on the AirAsia website’s Deals page or under the Deals Tab on the AirAsia app.

However, customers should note that the AirAsia Unlimited Pass Cuti-Cuti Malaysia only covers the base fare and subject to the availability of seats and flights. Passengers would still need to pay for add-ons, additional taxes and fees, as well as airport charges.

Flight bookings must also be made 14 days prior to departure. After three no-shows for confirmed flights and bookings, the pass will be forfeited.

It should also be noted that the fine print states that “AirAsia reserves the right at its absolute discretion to vary, delete or add to any of the Terms and Conditions and/or withdraw the Pass, or substitute or replace the Pass with another product or program of equivalent value from time to time without any prior notice.”

The new normal of flying

As with everything else during the pandemic, airline travel is also subject to health standard operating procedures (SOPs).

A new norm of safety measures in AirAsia flights include contactless procedures, only one piece of cabin baggage not exceeding 7 kg per passenger, mandatory face masks and arrival 3 hours before departure.

Riad Asmat also urges travellers to support the domestic tourism sector responsibly by practising high standards of personal hygiene.
