Malaysia Records 116th Covid-19 Fatality

Another soul was lost to Covid-19 in Malaysia, bringing our total fatality count to 116.

This will be the first death from the coronavirus recorded since May 22.

The deceased, a 61-year-old man with a history of diabetes, hypertension and kidney cancer, was being treated at the Kluang Hospital in Johor since May 29. He was pronounced dead at around 10pm on June 5.

As of June 5, the country’s total infection count stands at 8,266, with 19 new cases reported.

These new cases were concentrated in Kuala Lumpur (4), Sabah (3), Pahang (1), Melaka (1), and Sarawak (1) involving 7 imported cases from overseas and 12 locally transmitted cases among 3 foreign nationals.

Since June 23, Malaysia had recorded over 900 cases of Covid-19 infections where more than 500 of those cases were detected in Cheras, KL.

Malaysia’s total active cases now stand at 1,540 with a total of 6,610 patients having recovered from the disease.
