At his daily press briefing, Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah noted that there are three new clusters of Covid-19 cases detected in Pahang, involving 15 foreign workers.

Seven cases were detected at a plantation in Bera, six at a sawmill, and two at a construction company in Maran. These 15 cases are included in the 57 new cases as reported yesterday.

Sepang Immigration Detention Centre detected another 24 cases, bringing the total up to 60 cases.

The number of known cases is increasing as more testing is done within detention centres and immigration centres.

The government has been putting more effort into testing foreign workers, and will subsidize the cost of testing for employers with high-risk workers under their care.

The Ministry of Health is still investigating the source of the outbreak, but note with optimism that those infected have been detected and have been isolated.

There has been no Covid-19-related deaths for nine consecutive days, keeping Malaysia’s death toll at 115.
