A German man on a very long walk across the country was arrested by the police in Perlis for not having an interstate travel permit.

FMT reports that the 24-year-old was stopped at a roadblock in Ulu Pauh, Perlis after walking from the direction of Changlun, Kedah. He was making his way to Kuala Perlis to catch a ferry to Langkawi.

Arau district police chief Nanda Maarof said the German had arrived in the country on 3rd March at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and then walked to Gerik, Perak.

After being stranded in the state for 2 months, he then made his way to Perlis on foot. The German was apparently unaware that the country is under a Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO).

He has been remanded for four days. The German embassy has also been notified and the cross-country walker will be screened for Covid-19.
