Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan announced that the government will be subsidising Covid-19 screening of workers through the Social Security Organisation’s (Socso) Program Saringan Prihatin (PSP) from 1st June onwards.

Malay Mail reports that employers can claim the RM150 subsidy per Covid-19 screening for workers who contribute to Sosco, including foreigners.

However, the PSP Perkeso subsidy programme is targeted at high-risk workers with priority to foreign workers in the construction and security services sectors in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur to break the chain of Covid-19 transmission.

Saravanan explains that the decision was made following a discussion with the Health Ministry and Works Ministry. As such, the HR Ministry will increase the number of Covid-19 screening service providers.

Employers can send their workers to any clinic or hospital approved by the Health Ministry for screening.

However, the cost of Covid-19 screening for workers outside of the target group under this subsidy programme must be borne by employers.
