Residents of Hulu Selangor may experience water disruptions with the shutdown of the Sungai Selisik water treatment plant caused by pollution after an oil tanker lorry had crashed and spilled its load of diesel fuel on the North-South Expressway (NES) near Behrang, Selangor.

According to Air Selangor, a total of eight areas in the district would be impacted by the temporary water cuts affecting more than 700 residents and businesses in;

  • Kampung Sungai Nilam/Kampung Seri Pagi
  • Kampung Lalang Sungai Selisek
  • Rumah Murah PKT 2, Kampung Serigala
  • Kampung Orang Asli Serigala
  • Kampung Bahom
  • Kampung Sekolah
  • Clinic Quarters
  • Kampung Gesir Tengah.

Mobile water tanks have been deployed to provide the public with an emergency source of freshwater and authorities are currently working to take care of the oil spill and restore water services.
