Covid-19 cases worldwide has now reached 5.69 million according to the latest figures from the John Hopkins University.
The coronavirus now has caused more than 350,000 deaths worldwide.
The United States which recorded the number of coronavirus cases and fatalities now has more than 100,000 deaths in the space of less than four months.
The country currently has around 1.69 million confirmed infections which account for about 30% of the worldwide total.
Although the US has more cases than any nation in the world, it is actually behind Brazil in terms of deaths related to Covid-19.
Brazil recorded more than 1,000 new deaths from the coronavirus, bringing the total number of fatalities to 25,598. As for the total number of cases, it now stands at 411,821.
Russia now has crossed 370,000 in the number of infection cases but reports point out that the number of recoveries is outnumbering new infections for two days in a row.
11,079 recoveries were reported over the last 24 hours against 8,338 new infections.
Although countries have struggled with the pandemic, New Zealand has appeared to have the situation under control as the country now has zero hospitalisation cases with the infection rate now at double digits.
Vietnam maintained their “0 deaths” record with no new cases reported as of 27 May. The total number of cases is now at 327 with 278 who have recovered from the disease.
