The national postal service is advising the public to be wary of donation scams on Facebook.

Pos Malaysia Bhd (Pos Malaysia) released a statement on 21 May confirming that the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) have arrested a suspect believed to have been involved in such a scam.

The online outcry was sparked by Masakan Utara Barat social media post, showing a Pos Malaysia deliver rider crying on the steps of a home after delivering a parcel.

Pos Malaysia was referring to a now-deleted viral post that claimed the company won’t be gifting their hardworking employees with a bonus this year despite the fact that they had been overworked during the nationwide movement control order (MCO).

Applauding PDRM’s swift action in bringing the scammer to justice and averting further exploitation of kind and caring Malaysians, Pos Malaysia clarified that they are committed to the welfare of their employees.

Despite facing challenges since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, Pos Malaysia assured that they will continue to protect the livelihood of more than 15,000 of their frontline staff and operational support staff.

We seek the public’s continuous support and understanding during this time.
