Health Director General Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah revealed that he will be spending Hari Raya Aidilfitri at the hospital.

Answering to reporters at the daily Covid-19 briefing, Dr Noor Hisham says that he usually spends the first day of Hari Raya at the hospital with the frontliners and this year is no different.

Every year I celebrate Hari Raya at the hospital – on the first day. So after the Aidilfitri prayers, I will go to the hospital to be with our frontliners who are working on this day.

At the same time, the Health DG reminds Malaysians to stay vigilant despite the festivities and urges everyone to adhere to the Health Ministry’s SOP for Hari Raya, which are:

  • Visits only on the first day of Hari Raya
  • Maximum of 20 guests depending on the size of the house (Self-regulation)
  • Only visits by immediate family members in the same state
  • Practice 3W’s – Wash (hands), Wear (face mask), Warn (urge others to follow)
  • Avoid the 3C’s – Crowd Places, Confined Spaces & Close Conversations

He also warns that we’ll find out in two weeks if Malaysia’s Covid-19 cases drastically increases or not.

We can avoid cases from escalating too quickly if everyone adheres to the SOP’s in place. This is the responsibly of all, not just the Health Ministry.

Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, Health Director General.

Malaysia records 78 new Covid-19 cases today, bringing the total to 7,137 with 1,163 active cases. The death toll increased to 115 with one new death reported today.
