22 healthcare personnel at the Tuaran Hospital in Sabah have been quarantined after being exposed to a patient who was tested positive for Covid-19.

Some parts of the hospital had to be sanitised as a preventive measure and the medical centre is still operating as per usual.

Sabah Health Director Datuk Dr Christina Rundi said it was part of the standard operating procedures (SOP) to handle Covid-19 cases.

Meanwhile, Hospital Director Dr G. Mohan Gopal Naidoo said that although they are quarantined, it’s a normal procedure for those in the frontlines and it doesn’t mean that these medical workers are already infected.

If tested negative, the staff will be allowed to return and work again.
