It looks like Thailand’s health authorities knead some stress-busting after months of dealing with Covid-19.

Coconuts Bangkok reports that the ubiquitous Thai massage parlours may soon reopen their doors, but the Thai Public Health Ministry says it’s only to “treat organs that are “below the waist.”

The health officials believe that upper body massages, such as neck, shoulders and back, pose a higher risk of spreading the virus. Hence, the idea to permit lower body massages from the waist down.

After speaking to massage parlour operators who want to reopen businesses due to economic pressures, health service support department director Thares Karassanairawiwong and his team came up with an idea that’ll probably give everyone a happy ending.

If this idea rubs you the wrong way, fret not as the Thai Covid-19 task force has yet to decide if the public health ministry’s option is indeed a stroke of genius or an embarrassing flop.
