Government Warns Malaysians Against Giving Fake Names At Business Premises

The government wants Malaysians to be truthful in providing their contact information during the pandemic.
With the implementation of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) each individual is required to provide their name and phone number when entering or leaving premises such as restaurants, food halls, retail shops and kiosks as part of ongoing efforts at curbing the spread of Covid-19.
But unfortunately, Senior Ministry (Defense) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob revealed that there are reports of Malaysians who are bluntly falsifying their personal details and giving out bogus information.
According to the minister, some people were using fictional character names like “Superman” and “Batman”, and even calling out the legendary Malay strongman “Badang” as substitutes to putting in their own details.

Ismail Sabri explained that this was the reason why some premises are forced to ask patrons to produce their MyKad identifications in order to ensure that the customer had provided the accurate information.
Notably, those who provide incorrect or false information to authorities can be found guilty under the Infectious Diseases Act which is punishable by a fine or time in prison.
Malaysians are reminded of the necessities of such simple methods of data recording as it remains one of the best ways to conduct contact tracing and inform the public of a possible Covid-19 outbreak.
Ismail Sabri exclaimed that if it was troubling for Malaysians to be doing just this, then it would make things very difficult in the days to come.
