As the Covid-19 crisis rages on, the government is extending its strictly “no balik kampung” rule to also ban visitations during the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.

Malaysians are strictly prohibited from visiting friends and family or welcoming guests into their own homes to maintain social distancing guidelines against public gatherings during the nationwide Movement Control Order (MCO) a.k.a. the Conditional MCO (CMCO).

Senior Minister (Defence) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob explained that the government has chosen to maintain the “no ziarah” policy as it would be rather impossible for the authorities and by extension, the rakyat, to maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) in every single home across the entire country.

As logic would have it, there’s always a possibility of people overlooking or neglecting hygiene and social distancing practices.

But that shouldn’t stop you from connecting and enjoying moments with your loved ones in the “new normal”.
