The government just updated Malaysia’s interstate travel permission guidelines for phase 5 of the nationwide Movement Control Order (MCO).

Though interstate travel is technically still prohibited during the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO), the authorities are allowing Malaysians stuck in their hometowns and kampungs to return to their respective homes and workplaces in the cities via their own personal vehicles.

Based on information released by the Prime Minister’s Department’s official social media accounts, Malaysians who register themselves on the government’s Gerak Malaysia mobile application are automatically allowed to travel to their intended locations on specific dates.

Meaning that you can now travel back to work (from the locations mentioned below) without needing to apply for permission on the app itself or reporting in at local police stations.

  • May 7 – Kuala Lumpur
  • May 8 – Perak, Johor and Kelantan
  • May 9 – Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Melaka & Pahang
  • May 10 – Selangor, Negeri Sembilan & Terengganu

Again, do keep in mind that the areas stated represents the starting point of your journey and not the destination.

For more information, you can read through our short user manual on how to use the app, HERE.
