Singapore Records 632 New Cases, 19,410 In Total

Singapore has confirmed 632 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the tally now to 19,410 as of 5 March.
The country’s Ministry of Health (MOH) said the majority of the new cases are from work permit holders, while permanent residents and locals account for only 9 of the 632 cases.
Singapore’s Health Minister Gan Kim Yong said for the country to lift their “circuit breaker” measures, the number of community cases daily should fall to zero or single digits over a period of time.
He also said its important for the country to decrease the infection rate among foreign workers but it will take time.
If they fail to contain the infection, Gan said, it could spread to the wider population.
The “circuit breaker” measure was announced by the country’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong to prevent Covid-19 infections from escalating.
To reduce the risk of infection, the country passed a new law that bans all gatherings with family or friends who do not live together.
Gatherings at home, public spaces are also banned.
Businesses such as like barbers, home-based bakers and laundry services are only allowed to resume operations starting 12 May.
