Private vehicles are now allowed on the road at any time of the day or night now that the country has moved into the implementation of the conditional movement control order (CMCO).

During his daily security briefing today (5 May), Senior Minister (Defence) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced that this specific restriction from the movement control order (MCO) no longer applies.

In terms of movement, district to district movement is already allowed, so there is no limit in terms of the time to travel.

Previously, under the MCO only those in essential services were allowed beyond the limits he mentioned. This restriction was enforced by police roadblocks set up along major roads preventing the public from any unnecessary travel.

In contrast, now under the CMCO, most businesses, except for those involving crowds and close contact services, have been allowed to resume.

Meanwhile, despite the loosening of this rule, interstate movement will continue to require police approval, which can be applied for through the Gerak Malaysia app.
