Today, 4th May, is Day 1 of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO), where opening of the economy means that thousands of Malaysians leave their homes after 47 days of staying at home.

As businesses open their doors, images of crowds and long queues are popping up on social media.

Amongst the images that have garnered attention online are the snaking queues sighted at Kenanga Wholesale City in Kuala Lumpur that appears to spill over to the road.

Some instances social distancing fails were also recorded aboard public transportation.

However, things over at RapidKL’s trains seem to be going well. The rail operator tweeted out images from this morning showing temperature checks and passengers adhering to social distancing on platforms and inside the trains.

Day 1 of the CMCO looks to be a mixed bag as Malaysians adjust to the new normal but it’s vital that everyone adheres to social distancing to break the transmission of Covid-19.
