It seems that the angry cries of Malaysians over Movement Control Order (MCO) violations by high profile individuals have worked.

In the Magistrates’ Court today, Deputy Health Minister Datuk Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali and Perak state exco Razman Zakaria face a charge of violating the MCO after posting pictures of them having a group meal at the Maahad Tahfiz Quran Lid Dakwah Wal Imamah in Lenggong on social media.

Bernama reports that the two arrived at court around 9.20 am to be charged under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2020.

According to The Star, Dr Noor Azmi and Razman have pleaded guilty.

If found guilty, they are looking at a fine of RM1,000 or maximum 6 months jail time, or both.

The incident which took place on 18th April drew the ire of Malaysians over the perceived double standards as ordinary Malaysians faced fines and jail for MCO violations.

Dr Noor Azmi is also the Member of Parliament for Bagan Serai and Razman is chairman of the state Education, Human Resource Development, NGO and Civil Society Committee.
