Sabah Woman Delivers Baby In Car After Being Stuck In MCO Traffic

A woman in Tawau, Sabah had to deliver her baby boy in her car. She was unable to get to the hospital in time after getting caught in traffic caused by movement control order (MCO) roadblocks.
The woman, who was on the way to the hospital to deliver her baby with her family, was stuck in traffic for more than two hours on 18 April because of two roadblocks that were enforcing the MCO.
On the way to the hospital, I tried an alternative route to avoid a traffic jam, but was caught in congestion at a (different) roadblock.

Fortunately for the family, an ambulance passed by and they were able to inform the medical crew of their emergency.ÂÂ
The kind ambulance driver advised the family to follow the ambulance to the hospital, and the woman managed to safely deliver her baby at the hospital entrance.
Obstetrics and Gynecology specialist from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of Universiti Pertanian Malaysia (UPM), Dr Amilia Afzan Mohd Jamil recommends pregnant mothers to request assistance from the local police station if your due date is near.
Writing in a piece for Berita Harian, Dr Amilia says that during the MCO period, roads might be congested due to police roadblocks and explains that getting assistance from the police could mean that you’ll get priority to jump the queue or use the emergency lane when contractions increase in severity.ÂÂ
