The 2020 intake for Malaysia’s public colleges, universities, and institutions (IPTA) will proceed as normal.

The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) announced that the online UPU application system remains open for Form 5 and Form 6 graduates to apply for tertiary education.

MOHE explains that IPTAs are expected to welcome new foundation, matriculation and diploma students in July and August while bachelor’s courses would begin in October.

This directive goes against previous announcements made by the Ministry of Education (MOE) which stated that intakes for all private and public institutions would be suspended till 2021 after postponing this year’s Form 5 SPM, and SVM exams, as well as the Form 6 STPM and STAM semester finals.

MOHE had already extended the deadline for university applications, twice, following the enforcement of the nationwide Movement Control Order.
