No More Fines, It’s Straight To Court For Violating MCO From Tomorrow

Fed up by the actions of folks violating Movement Control Orders (MCO), the police will now book violators to be brought straight to court instead of issuing the RM1,000 compound.
Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob revealed the new procedure will take effect from 15th April as there are still many who break the MCO rules to stay indoors and limit movements.
We see that the rakyat are acting as if they don’t care or are not afraid of the laws we have today. Maybe RM1,000 is not enough to scare them.

Violators are subject to Section 24 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342).
Any person found guilty under this Act is subject to a fine or no more than 2 years imprisonment for the first offence. The punishment increases to 5 years imprisonment or a fine for subsequent offences.
Phase 3 of the MCO begins tomorrow, 15th April and is expected to end on 28th April.
