Malaysia’s Higher Education Ministry (MOHE) is discussing what to do with tertiary students who are stuck away from home since the start of the nationwide Movement Control Order (MCO).

In a statement posted on Twitter, its minister Datuk Dr. Noraini Ahmad said that MOHE is figuring out the best means to ensure that these marooned youths get to their respective homes and countries safely.

Local and international students from colleges and universities across the country have been confined to their hostels, dorm rooms and rented homes due to the MCO, with their care placed in the hands of their respective institutions.

Though some institutions have opted to proceed with the 2020 semester through online classes and lectures, many schools still lack guidelines and infrastructure to coordinate remote learning.

MOHE had issued a directive for all private and public institutes to suspend all class activities including e-learning exercises.
