Frontliners are begging Malaysians to stay home and abide by the rules and regulations set in place during the Covid-19 pandemic.

In an emotional interview broadcast on Astro Awani, Noor Hamiza Gulam, a medical laboratory technician at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia’s Canselor Tuanku Muhriz Hospital (HCTM) provides a glimpse into the harsh realities faced by the country’s medical professionals at the helm of the viral plague.

In the 2-minute interview, Noor Hamiza gives a short tour of her lab which was doing coronavirus diagnostics tests on samples taken from patients.

Sharing anecdotes on life at the frontlines of the pandemic, Noor Hamiza explained that it has become normal for healthcare staff such as herself to be working long into the night, even on weekends, since the crisis began.

According to the lab technician, herself and others in her line of work have not seen their families and loved ones for weeks, forced to isolate themselves as a precautionary measure against the outbreak.

I had to sent my kids back to kampung… even my friend’s children (and my own) have been asking when will their mother’s be coming home?

Confessed Nor Hamiza as she chokes back her emotions on camera – via Astro Awani.

Standing in front of a team of frontliners,  Noor Hamiza held back tears as she pleads to Malaysians to stick by the Movement Control Order (MCO) and practice social distancing.

Noor Hamiza and her team expressed that every Malaysian has their part to play in the battle against the deadly disease that has claimed more than 70 lives in the country and over 80,000 souls across the globe.
