9 Malaysian Hospitals To Start WHO Drug Trials For COVID-19 Treatment

9 local hospitals will begin testing the effectiveness of several drugs in combating COVID-19 as part of a collaborative effort between the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Ministry of Health.

Health Director-General Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a statement released by the Ministry that the country has accelerated efforts to implement drug trials to treat COVID-19 patients.

These are the 9 hospitals mentioned by the Ministry:

  • Tuanku Fauziah Hospital
  • Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital
  • Pulau Pinang Hospital
  • Sungai Buloh Hospital
  • Kuala Lumpur Hospital
  • Melaka Hospital
  • Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital
  • Sarawak General Hospital
  • Queen Elizabeth Hospital

Malaysia’s participation in this worldwide trial could help find life saving medicines for COVID-19 through evaluating their safety and effectiveness

The “Solidarity Trial” is an effort organised by the World Health Organisation to collect data and compare the effectiveness of four treatment protocols using different combinations of Remdesivir, Lopinavir/Ritonavir, Interferon beta, Chloroquine and Hydroxycholorquine.
