As Malaysia’s Covid-19 cases continue to rise, we now witness the grim reality that a two-year-old child with cancer is now one of the nation’s youngest to be infected with the novel coronavirus.
Muhammad Fateh Aqil Mohd Nazmee, aged 2 years and 4 months old has leukemia, a cancer of the blood. He was confirmed to be infected by the virus that causes Covid-19 by Persatuan Sokongan Anak-Anak Kanser (Pesona) on their Facebook page.
According to Persona, Fateh Aqil has been undergoing chemotherapy at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Health Campus Kubang Kerian and was due for his next session when his blood test revealed that the child had been infected with the virus.
The Kelantan Health Department confirmed the news with Harian Metro, informing that the child is currently being treated at Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II (HRPZ II) in Kota Bharu, Kelantan. The health department also said that Fateh Aqil was infected with the virus through his family.
