125 Covid-19 Infections Have Been Linked To The “Tabligh” Event

A total of 125 new Corvid-19 cases has been recorded in Malaysia, bringing the country’s infection count up to 553.

The Health Ministry (MOH) says that 95 of the newly identified patients had links to a tabligh congregation which took place at a mosque in Sri Petaling, Kuala Lumpur earlier this month that apparently had an audience of 16,000 locals and foreigners.

Previously, MOH had already identified 77 people infected with Covid-19 who were connected or had attended the event, bringing the total number of people infected at the gathering to 172.

12 of those infected were reportedly undergoing treatment at a local intensive care unit (ICU).

Authorities are urging those who attended the event to come forward and get themselves tested for infections.

On Sunday (March 15) the country had its biggest jump in infections with 190 cases identified in a span of a day, making Malaysia the worst-affected country in Southeast Asia.

42 people in total have recovered from the virus in Malaysia.
