University Malaya makes world top universities list for employability ranking again!
Malaysian institutions of higher education are certainly having
a good month!
Just last week, 13 Malaysian universities made it onto the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2020.
This week, there’s more good news as University Malaya emerges as Malaysia’s BEST for employability on the 2020 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Employability Ranking!
The ranking, which was released on 18th September, lists 500 universities across the globe and grades them based on graduate employability outcomes and prospects.
Points are given based on 5 indicators:
- Employer reputation (30%)
- Alumni outcomes (25%)
- Partnerships with Employers per Faculty (25%)
- Employer/Student Connections (10%)
- Graduate employment rate (10%)
University Malaya (UM) ranked at 141-150 with an overall
score of 46.4-48.4. It’s good news as Malaysia’s oldest university jumped two
spots up from last year’s 161-170 position.
Besides UM, 8 other local universities also earned a spot on the coveted list!
At No 6 globally, China’s Tsinghua University is top in Asia on graduate employability.
The University of Hong Kong (No 9), Peking University (No 19), The University of Tokyo (No 23) and National University of Singapore (No 24) round up Asia’s top 5.
Globally, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) ranks
at No 1, followed by Stanford University and University of California, Los
Angeles.
Earlier this year, the QS World University Rankings 2018-2020 was also cause for celebration as 10 Malaysian institutions made the list with UM at No 70.
Congratulations to all the public and private varsities that made the list!
