Queen deactivates Twitter; #AmpunTuanku trends as M’sians call for her return

Despite the recent racial, religious and political tension that has been circulating the Malaysian online sphere recently, the Agong’s wife, Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, has been a constant source of joy and laughter to her Twitter followers through funny and cute posts on her @cheminahsayang account.

Unfortunately, the Raja Permaisuri Agong appears to have deactivated her account, yesterday (Sept 11).

Since then, Malaysians loyal to Tunku Azizah have launched a campaign to call the Permaisuri Agong back to Twitter.

As soon as netizens caught wind of her leaving the social media site, they quickly began sharing an #AmpunTuanku hashtag in a bid to convince Tunku Azizah to change her mind.

“Where is mother?”

“Y’alls should know the proper etiquette in using social media”

The hashtag trended as #1 in Malaysia for most of today and has remained as one of the top 3 trends. Besides that, “Permaisuri Agong” has also been in the top 3 on the same list throughout today.

Even butterflies like her.

The deactivation of her account is believed to be a result of several negative tweets about the Raja Permaisuri Agong that were posted recently.

Do you think Tunku Azizah will eventually return to Twitter?
