Despite the recent racial, religious and political tension that has been circulating the Malaysian online sphere recently, the Agong’s wife, Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, has been a constant source of joy and laughter to her Twitter followers through funny and cute posts on her @cheminahsayang account.
Unfortunately, the Raja Permaisuri Agong appears to have deactivated her account, yesterday (Sept 11).
Since then, Malaysians loyal to Tunku Azizah have launched a campaign to call the Permaisuri Agong back to Twitter.
As soon as netizens caught wind of her leaving the social media site, they quickly began sharing an #AmpunTuanku hashtag in a bid to convince Tunku Azizah to change her mind.
I’m coming from a state where we don’t have royals, but having them as our King & Queen is a true blessing. They represent the unity of this country, a symbol to unite us. Ampun Tuanku, I’m sorry you have to go through this #AmpunTuanku— clarky (@itsclrkhns) September 11, 2019
Tunku Azizah, you are precious on our eyes. We are grateful for having such a humble King and Queen. You are our friend on Twitter. Please, we begging you, come back.. @cheminahsayang #AmpunTuanku— hazim husaini | حازيم حوسايني (@hazimhusaini__) September 11, 2019
“Where is mother?”
I too, found it odd at first, that our Queen would post so much and so regularly to Twitter. But I felt that she was just going with the times. Our lives are so public these days. So, why should royals be immune.— Shawn Tan 🇲🇾 (@sybreon) September 12, 2019
I hope that she decides to resume her postings.#AmpunTuanku
Raja Permaisuri Agong must know that rakyat Malaysia really² adore with her. We all love you our lovely Queen, we all love you! 😭💖 #AmpunTuanku— wawan 🇲🇾💞 (@nurulwassini) September 12, 2019
HOW CAN YALLS THROW HATE TO THIS WONDERFUL, ADORABLE, AND HUMBLE WOMAN? Our Permaisuri Agong didn’t deserve the hates. Yalls should know adab in using social media. #AmpunTuanku pic.twitter.com/TRyOuU8Pgk— Fatindaeyo (@iKON__BOBBYYY) September 12, 2019
“Y’alls should know the proper etiquette in using social media”
The hashtag trended as #1 in Malaysia for most of today and has remained as one of the top 3 trends. Besides that, “Permaisuri Agong” has also been in the top 3 on the same list throughout today.
The deactivation of her account is believed to be a result of several negative tweets about the Raja Permaisuri Agong that were posted recently.
Do you think Tunku Azizah will eventually return to Twitter?
