Kelantan doctor breastfeeds baby whose mother is in a coma

A doctor in Kelantan is helping to breastfeed a baby whose mother is in a coma.

Three-month-old Farah Hanis Fairol Haziri was born via C-Section after her mother fell into a coma while she was still pregnant.

Due to a tumor growth inside her head, 36-year-old Kamareeah Arwae had been unconscious since last December.

For some two months, the baby girl had been surviving solely on milk formula, fed through a tube attached from the mother’s neck.

Dr Siti Nur Aqilah Mohd Khairul Adnan’s motherly instincts kicked in after she was made aware of the heartbreaking case through news reports.

The good doctor at Klinik Kesihatan Wakaf Che Yeh, Kota Bharu, with a five-month-old baby boy of her own, felt compelled to help the child who had been missing the love, warmth and valuable nutrients from her biological mother.

Siti Nur Aqilah supplies a weekly stock of milk for Farah Hanis that the baby’s family comes to collect at her house.

“Since it has been two months that the baby had been drinking milk formula, the family agreed with my request and intentions…”

“It has been two weeks since Farah Hanis became my ‘daughter’…”

“And she looks to be doing better too. As breast milk is very nutritious, her skin is more springy and flexible now….”

“God willing, I’ll continue to supply her with breast milk until she’s old enough to not need it anymore….”

Copious research has proven that breast milk is undeniably beneficial to a child’s growth, providing ideal food for the development of infants.

Its recommended that a child be breastfed for up to six months of their lives.
