Malaysians proud of soldier for picking up Jalur Gemilang that had fallen on an expressway

A flag is not only the symbol of the nation’s identity but stands as a symbol of the people’s pride and glory.

Which was why images of a soldier rescuing a fallen Jalur Gemilang spread like wildfire online.

The images posted by Facebook user Mohd Fitri, who apparently had served in the military for some 20 years, showed an army-man clad in camo boldly walking by a busy expressway to collect a Malaysian flag that was on the ground.

“This is the heart and soul of each serving, retired and even the families and supporters of the armed forces. We don’t worship the flag, but we recognize the meaning and value of our nation’s flag!”

The soldier’s respect towards the national banner sparked patriotism among Malaysians who are already fired up for the Merdeka celebrations coming up at the end of August.

Comments quickly followed praising the warrior for his noble actions.

“Our soldier boy is so awesome!”

“How would defend a country if not its people?”

“Achieving independence was not easy, the stripes and colours of the Malaysian flag remind us of this fact…”

Let’s all try to emulate the same love and respect towards our national flag and follow in this brave soldier’s example.
