Haze to stick around until about mid-Sept
The haze that has led to moderate air quality in most of our states (and caused Jokowi to feel embarrassed) will most likely clear from Malaysia after mid-September.
Deputy director-general (operations) from the Meteorological Department said that this estimation was based on the change in wind direction and rainfall expected towards the end of September during the southwest monsoon shift.
He added that the haze would remain as long as the southwest monsoon winds persist, and hot spots in Kalimantan and Sumatera continue to cause forest fires.
The public is advised to take safety precautions while the haze is here and everyone is urged to refrain from open burning activities.
