Public holiday declared on 30th July for Agong’s coronation!

July 30^th has officially declared a public holiday for the King’s coronation!

Chief Secretary Datuk Seri Ismail Bakar made the announcement not with a town crier, but on Instagram – like a proper 21^st century citizen.

The statement proclaims that the government has decided to declare the date as a public holiday for the entire nation in conjunction with the installation ceremony of Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

However, the decree is only applicable to Peninsular Malaysia and Labuan. For Sabah and Sarawak, the holiday is subject to the state governments decision based on their own state laws.

But for the rest of us, this means a public holiday on Tuesday. So guys, you can suddenly fall sick take the Monday off and get FOUR whole days of freedom!

Jokes aside, the coronation ceremony of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong is much awaited as His Majesty has been going viral in the past couple of weeks for his down-to-earth actions. (like that time he stopped his motorcade to assist an accident victim.)

Not only that, the King and his Queen, Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah will be wearing Royal Pahang Woven Fabric made by prisoners for the coronation ceremony!
