Forget metal straws, edible straws are the latest thing

The debate of straws has  been a wildly discussed topic lately. Does saving the Earth come at the expense of enjoying your cup of bubble tea?

Most of the time, yes. Many Malaysians have solved their dilemma by sporting reusable straws, typically made of metal, bamboo, and even glass.

As efficient and stylish as these new straws are, there’s no denying how inconvenient it can be if you were to forget to bring them out with you.

What now?!

Do you:
a) give up the chance of buying your liquid, brown sugar happiness or,
b) continue to pollute the Earth with a straw that will last another 500 years for a 10 minute drink?

Fear not, peeps. A Malaysian company has the solution to your problem!

Introducing Mistraws Manufacturing! This Malaysian company intends to start a new, eco-friendly trend; edible rice straws! Yep, you read that right.

The “Mistraws” are made from rice and tapioca, so they are actually edible—if you feel like boba just isn’t chewable enough for you.

These straws come in 3 different sizes and are also biodegradable, which means it won’t just end up in some logam buruk pile when you’re done with it!

They last up to 100 days before it’s time to toss them though, so don’t worry about it.

What’s particularly impressive is how the straws can last in cold drinks for up to 4 to 6 hours and hot drinks for 3 hours.

This is a massive for the food industry, especially for those that require pre-packing straws in drinks.

The invention Mistraws could really help curb this growing problem of plastic straw usage.

What do think? Are you ready to ditch your aesthetically pleasing rose-gold metal straws for this? Or is this going to be another hype that will die down? Looks like for now, we’re still in distrawght.
