All the times Malaysians came together for Ramadan this year

Every year, we are again reminded of how incredible everyday Malaysians are. Our generosity and neighborliness for total strangers is what makes Malaysia so wonderful to live in.

With just a few days left to Raya, we’ve compiled the best of this year’s berbuka-puasa-together stories, to remind everyone that unity is our strength.

Mohd Fuzaimie Faizan shared a story of how a Chinese uncle waited until the appropriate time to buka puasa before eating. Mohd Fuzaimie was touched by his respectful gesture to wait and eat together.

Nas was on her way home in the evening via Grab when they passed by a bazaar.

They stopped and shopped for food, which was all paid for by the Grab driver, Wong Zhen Wei. Nas even invited him back to her house to buka puasa together as thanks, but he declined.

Norbaidura Shafie had invited two postmen into her house to buka puasa together. The two were working overtime.

It was a generous gesture for the tired postmen after delivering Raya parcels all day!

The New Straits Times reported that the adoptive parent of 4 Malay children helps them through the month of Ramadan. Lim Peng Chik had adopted 2 boys aged 5 and 8 and two 15-year-old girls.

His generosity started when he lived next to a poor Malay family. He would routinely buy them food and provide for them financially, saying that he lived alone and had no problem providing for them.

Brave firemen had to break fast and perform their prayers at a secluded roadside when a fire broke out.

Malaysians truly embodied the spirit of Ramadan this year with their kindness and generosity for each other. Selamat Hari Raya, everyone!
