The Energy Commission is investigating our higher-than-usual electricity bills

Responding to an overflowing of complaints over high electricity bills and an ‘unacceptable reply’ by Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), our Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change Minister Yeo Bee Yin tabled a meeting with TNB.

Following this meeting yesterday, Yeo says the Energy Commission (EC) will investigate this issue within 14 days.

Three reasons were given by TNB, but the reasons were not accepted by Yeo.

Among them? Blaming the weather and blaming consumers who are not using SIRIM certified products.

Legal action could be taken against TNB if they are found not meeting the allocation under Section 9C of the Electricity Supply Act 1990.

Following up, Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said today that this matter will be discussed at the Cabinet meeting.

So we shall see what comes out from this shall we?

On TNB’s Facebook page, about 3,900 comments were made on a post by TNB claiming that their services were back to normal.

But for consumers in Melaka, TNB are holding Customer Day at their office in Jalan Banda Kabar from May 28 till May 31, if you would like to lodge complaints or suggestions to the utility company.

Looks quite like a busy Customer Day for TNB, though.
