Malaysian Co-Director’s silent film shortlisted in New York’s Tribeca Film Festival

As reported by Malay Mail, Malaysian-born, London-based photographer and cinematographer Darius Shu recently made his co-directorial debut at the famous Tribeca Film Festival in New York.

Shu and co-director, Arron Blake, only used GBP 400 (RM 2,000) to shoot His Hands, a low budget short silent film.

“My aim was to prove that we could make something amazing and beautiful for the budget and resources that we have.”

Ageism and loneliness are the central message in His Hands.

Shu is also known for his work on Pardaa (2017), Secret Child: The Bridge (2018), and Narcissus Revisited (2019).

This is not the first time His Hands has been highlighted.

Previously, His Hands premiered in Perth at it’s International Queer Film Festival, and even won awards in the UK at the Oniros Film Awards.
