Customers charged for cups & plates due to water shortage

Netizens are enraged with Original Penang Kayu Nasi Kandar Restaurant in SS2 Petaling Jaya which charged customers for cups and plates during yesterday’s water shortage.

The matter is now currently being investigated by the Domestic Trade and cConsumer Affairs Ministry.

FMT reports that the manager of the restaurant, Mohamad Sahajan, told them the 20 cent charge was enforced because customers were using plastic utensils.

Plastic cups, plates, and utensils were used as a substitute when the restaurant’s water supply was cut at 7 p.m. yesterday.

He then adds that ever since the water supply is back, they have resumed using their normal utensils, and are discontinuing the extra charges.

Netizens continue to make a mockery out of the situation today across social media.

Hamadan jokes, “Extra cost because they want to wash (the cups and plates) with mineral water”

Moeinuddin Zakaria adds, “looks like we can bring back those plates and cups as a souvenier!”
