KUALA LUMPUR, 17 Jan 2017:
KTM Bhd (KTMB) is offering a 50% discount on ticket fare on its Electric Train Service (ETS) and Intercity service for government and army pensioners and their spouse.
Corporate communication manager Siti Badariah Wan Hanafi said the 50% discount, offered since Sunday, was a top up of 10% to the existing 40% discount.
She said the offer is for all ETS and Intercity service, except for the Tebrau JB Sentral-Woodlands-JB Sentral shuttle service.
Prior to this, the 50% discount is given to senior citizens, persons with disabilities – but has been extended to government and army pensioners and their spouse, she said today.
The discount ticket can be bought at all KTMB ticket counters by producing the original retiree card issued by the Public Service Department or the Malaysian Armed Forces Veteran Affairs Department and identity card.

Meanwhile, intercity train services to the east coast – which was disrupted since Dec 31 due to landslides and floods – have resumed operations today.
KTMB said in a statement the intercity train services from Johor Bharu (JB) Sentral-Tumpat-JB Sentral had resumed operations as scheduled after the repair work was completed.
The statement also said the repair work was led by Mohamad Alpiza Che Ibrahim, KTMB chief engineer of its east coast region’s Road Management Department with cooperation from the eastern region manager, Zaid Ibrahim.
In the meantime, four railway staff members were feted in a ceremony at Kuala Krai station for their efficient and excellent services in keeping operations and passengers safety during floods and landslides.
They were locomotive driver Ghazali Idris, locomotive junior driver Suhaimi Ya, train supervisor Marzuki Talib and traffic assistant Ramli Jusoh, it said.
