Funds raised will also go towards the upkeep of the choir group and its facilities – apart from channelling aid to help poor and needy students of the school.

The fundraising high-tea will be held from 11am to 3pm at One City Ballroom. Tickets are priced at RM120 per person or RM1,200 for a table of 10.

Made up of students aged 13-17, the SMK Seafield Choir has participated and excelled in many competitions as well as performed at various charitable events organised by the government and non-government organisations (NGOs) at the district, state, national and international levels.

Since 2004, the Seafield Choir has won a string of competitions at district and state levels. These include being champion for the Petaling Perdana Schools District for third year running from 2012 to 2014 with the Best Conductor Award 2014 for Gayatri Kandiah being the icing on the cake for the team along with the Championship Trophy.

The choir group has performed in Heidelberg and Berlin, Germany in 2012; Phuket and Bangkok, Thailand in 2013; and Brisbane, Australia in March 2014

In 2014, SMK Seafield Choir was crowned as the national champion, in the ‘Shah Alam Shines Choir- National Edition Competition 2014’ on 25 May 2014 defeating 15 other secondary school choirs from various states in Malaysia.

SMK Seafield Choir Club has played host and participated in exchange programmes from Singapore, South Africa, Germany, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, Philippines and Switzerland.

Many private sector organisations have invited the choir as well for performances at their events.

In addition to vocal performances, SMK Seafield Choir has performed four musical dramas. Grease was the first musical presented in 2006; followed by Mamma Mia in 2007, Footloose in 2009 and West Side Story in 2011.

This year, the Seafield Choir will be competing in two international level choral competitions.

In July, they will perform at the Malaysia International Choral Festival (July 22 – 24) at Putrajaya.

They then head to the 5th Bali International Choral Festival, organised by Bandung Choral Society, founded by Tommyanto Kandisaputra in 2000. This prestigious event will once again feature world class choir teams in the international scene.
