ALOR SETAR: Feb 5, 2016:
The Coalition of Religious Schools committee supports Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah’s appointment as Kedah Menteri Besar.
Its Chairman Datuk Prof Dr Abdul Aziz Hanafi said Ahmad Bashah should ignore criticism by political enemies about his level of education because what was important is his ability to work and serve.
“I think he should not care about the personal attacks thrown at him. What is important is he has his own stand (because), to us graduating is another issue.
“What is important is his ability to work, experience, openness and leadership skills which are the most important to prove he can unite the rakyat.
“To me, we need to give full commitment to anyone who leads Kedah, as long as they abide by the teachings of Allah,” he said when met by The Rakyat Post.
Speaking further on the appointment, Abdul Aziz hoped that Ahmad Bashah would work to defend the faith of the Sunnah that was being attacked by several ideologies such as Syiah.
He also advised the rakyat to forget the past and start afresh.
“We also feel that people don’t have a problem. As long as Datuk Ahmad Bashah proves his ability to serve without being told, people will understand on their own.
“He needs to go down to the rakyat and listen to any complaints, heresay and concerns. People (in Kedah) don’t expect pay (but) they want sympathy,” he said.
Sekolah Menengah Agama Nahdhah Hasanah Melele, Ustaz Mohd Jamil Sadaqi al-Jarumi wants the Bakar Bata assemblyman to continue efforts to get close to religious schools, get to know the problems faced and channel the help needed.
“Yes, before this he worked hard and gave the help needed to religious schools.
“But I hope the new Menteri Besar is able to create a movement that is more consistent to religious schools so that they can be improved,” he said.
Meanwhile, Kolej Universiti Insaniah Chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Sayyid Muhammad Aqiel al- Mahdaiy al-Husainy saw Ahmad Bashah’s appointment as God’s will and hoped he could bring peace and harmony to Kedah.
“Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah’s appointment is by Allah’s will and we pray that he is able to carry out his duty for the race, religion and country.
“I believe he is a good person. InsyaAllah people of our religion will support leaders of this state and my hope is they are all united,” he said.
