KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 4, 2016:

A van driver was beaten to death by a man after he had allegedly failed to pick up a passenger at Kampung Sungai Udang in Klang, yesterday.

In the 7pm incident, the victim, identified as 24-year old Mohd Izharuddin Nordin was beaten up by a man who claimed that he had failed to pick up his nephew after a religious school session.

Southern Klang District Police Chief ACP Azman Abdul Razak said that the 29-year old suspect became furious when Mohd Izharuddin informed that he did not pick up the suspect’s nephew.

“The suspect followed the van before asking the victim to pull over. It is believed that the suspect punched the victim till he became unconscious.

“An hour after the incident, police managed to arrest the suspect.”

Azman said that the suspect had been remanded for seven days until Feb 10 for further investigation.

According to him, the victim’s remains were sent to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital for a post-mortem.

He also said that the victim would be buried at the Selat Klang Muslim Cemetery today.

The case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
